What this is

StockResearch is a free, valuation-first research platform for self-directed investors. Price charts tell you what a stock costs. This site tells you what you are paying for it, relative to what the market has paid for the same business before.

The core measurement is the valuation percentile. For every covered stock we build trailing-twelve-month P/E, P/S, EV/Sales, and EV/EBITDA as weekly time series, going back up to ten years, then rank today's multiple within the stock's own trailing five-year distribution. A percentile near 0 means the stock trades near the bottom of its own historical valuation range; near 100 means near the top. The comparison is always a stock against its own history, never against other companies, so the number means the same thing for a chipmaker and a railroad.

How the data is made

We compute the dataset ourselves from public sources. Nothing is repackaged from a data vendor.

• Fundamentals come from SEC EDGAR XBRL filings: quarterly, fiscal-offset and restatement aware, with Q4 derived as full year minus nine-month year-to-date when companies skip the standalone report.
• Prices are weekly split-adjusted closes.
• Between filings, a multiple moves with price over the then-current public TTM denominator. The series never uses information that was not public at the time.
• P/E shows as unavailable when trailing earnings are negative. We do not substitute a made-up number.
• Percentiles require about two years of usable weekly history. Under that, we show the multiple but not a percentile.
• Computed multiples are cross-checked against independent snapshots. When the two disagree, the row is flagged and held back, not silently published.

Every number on the site carries provenance: what it was computed from and how fresh it is. Coverage today is the S&P 500 plus a curated AI-infrastructure and international watchlist, expanding from there.

What this site is not

No buy or sell recommendations. No price targets. No advice. The product will tell you a stock sits at the 4th percentile of its own five-year range; it will never tell you the stock is cheap, because cheap is a judgment and the judgment is yours. A low percentile can mean an opportunity, or a business that earned its derating. The data cannot tell you which, and we will not pretend it can.

Where it started

StockResearch began as a cross-listing comparison tool: tracking the premium or discount between two listings of the same company (ADRs, CDIs), normalized for FX and depositary ratios. That tool is still here and still first-class at /compare. The valuation dataset grew out of the same instinct: measure the thing directly instead of eyeballing it.
