Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we never collect, and how to reach us.
Effective
What we collect
Product analytics (PostHog). We use PostHog to record behavioral events: page views, page leaves, and interactions with features like the screener and charts. This tells us which parts of the site are useful and which are ignored. Analytics data is processed on PostHog's US cloud. We use it in aggregate for product decisions and do not sell it.
Hosting logs (Vercel). The site runs on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested URLs, and timestamps. We use these to operate, debug, and secure the site.
Infrastructure (Supabase). Our databases run on Supabase. Today they store the computed valuation dataset and response caches, not personal data, because the site has no accounts.
Email. If you email us, we keep the correspondence. That is the only way we currently receive personal information directly from you.
What we do not collect
No accounts exist yet, so no registration data. We hold no brokerage connections, no portfolio data, and no payment information. We do not buy data about visitors, and we do not sell or rent any data to anyone.
Cookies and local storage
- Theme preference. Your light/dark choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your browser.
- One-time UI hints. Dismissed hints and tips are remembered in your browser so they stay dismissed.
- Analytics identifiers. PostHog stores an identifier in your browser to distinguish visits. It is used for analytics, not advertising.
There are no advertising cookies and no third-party ad trackers.
Data retention
We keep data on a best-effort, shortest-useful basis. Hosting logs and analytics events are retained per our providers' default retention windows; aggregate analytics may be kept longer for product decisions. If you want something about you removed, email us and we will make a good-faith effort.
When accounts arrive
We plan to add optional accounts and an email newsletter. Before either launches, this policy will be updated to describe exactly what gets stored (for example, your email address and saved screens), why, and how to delete it. Signing up will always be optional; the research surface stays free without an account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA and UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Since we hold almost no personal data today, the honest answer is that there is usually little to access or delete, but requests are welcome and we will respond to them. To exercise any of these rights, email contact the team.
