A missing percentile is an explanation to investigate. It is not a zero, and it is not a judgment about the business.
P/E needs positive trailing earnings. A loss-making company can have revenue and a market price while having no meaningful P/E. NuScale (SMR) illustrates the distinction: at our October 22, 2026 check, its available October 21 data had no trailing P/E but an EV/Sales reading of 90.0x. A missing P/E therefore does not mean every measure must be blank.
A sales or EBITDA denominator can also be too small for a stable comparison. Small changes then create huge ratios. Our pipeline suppresses the associated rank when trailing revenue is below $10 million or EBITDA below $1 million. These are data-method thresholds, not business milestones or investment rules. Read the measure’s own explanation; never infer that every early-stage company has the same status.
A percentile needs at least 26 usable weekly readings within the last five years after the history-quality checks. A recent listing may eventually qualify using less than five years of data. Its rank then compares the available observations inside the trailing five-year window, not five complete years.
GlobalFoundries (GFS) had a market-data snapshot but no ranked historical series at our October 22 review. A snapshot gives context today; it cannot stand in for observations from prior weeks. The chart and date on the current stock page show what is available now.
Stale filings, incompatible share bases and unresolved disagreements can put data under review. A company can still appear in a theme because its business belongs there. It must not influence that layer’s valuation median while excluded. Removing it silently would make the theme look more complete than it is.
Check the status beside the measure, the as-of date and the start of usable history. If P/E is unavailable, inspect sales and operating losses rather than treating EV/Sales as a substitute for profit. For young companies, also read cash use, financing requirements and the latest filing. Our methodology explains how weekly observations and rank eligibility are computed.
